Cancer Prevention Tips

Cancer arises due to the combined effect of person’s genetics and several other risk factors. You cannot prevent your Genetic risk but prevention of lifestyle related factors is one of the effective modes that you can adapt.

  • Avoid tobacco use like Smoking, Chewing, Snuffing and even brushing with tobacco
  • Maintain an ideal body weight 
  • Increase your daily intake for fresh fruits and vegetables and intake a healthy balanced diet
  • Be physically active for at least 30 minutes every day
  • Limit your alcohol consumption
  • Limit your sexual partners to avoid sexually transmitted infections, such as HIV and HPV
  • Protect yourself from sunlight
  • Men should have a “Prostate specific Antigen” test done annually on attaining the age of 50 years
  • If you are women perform monthly breast self exams and Maintain regular gynecological examinations: including “Pap smears and Mammograms” especially after the age of 40.
